Innocent Wonder

So we tried our first rice cereal. Pretty much success. I love the one eyebrow in this picture. It makes me giggle. He kind of dives for the spoon--not sure if that's because he wants to chew on the spoon, or because he likes food. Tbd.

Today I tried some sweet potatoes. Mom cooked them up, pureed, mixed with a little milk and wa-la--not excited about them. I'll try again tomorrow.

I also keep poking my finger around his mouth because, as of yesterday, he had ONE TOOTH!! Y'all, tonight he has two. What? How did that happen? Do I need to go buy him an electric razor to start shaving his face? Is he going to start smelling like a boy? Is he going to reject my kisses asap?

I'll keep you posted. All I know is the kid is getting some chompers. He's about to sit up. He can roll from one side to the other. He can put himself to bed. Slowly. I'm being phased out (minus my ability to always hold over him that,) as Bill Cosby would say, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out!")

My mom thinks I have syphilis

So there is apparently a syphilis outbreak in Austin. For real. There is an ad on the radio. Crazy.

You know how I've been a hypochondriac in the past? Well... apparently, my mom forgot that my dreaded diseases NEVER EVER include STD's. Ever. I was telling the fams about the ad on Christmas and my mom, no lie, said, "I guess you'll have that next."

No.

Ebola, yes.

Syph's, no.

TB, maybe.

Syphilis, no.

Back in the saddle again. A little work fodder from this crazy place.

True events.

The other day a woman was wearing elastic stretchy velvet pants. She also buys wind suits. Now. New ones.

Today. I'm in my "pump station" (aka supply closet), with a note on the door that says, "Room in use. Please do not disturb." When knock knock knock, "Hey, Amanda."

Ummm.... yes?

Can I come in and get that cart?

Just a second please.

Well, I really need to get that cart. We have a lot of stuff out here.

Just a second please (a little more forcefully.)

I threw all of my stuff in a bag, hitched things up, and walked out trying to not make eye contact with the THREE PEOPLE who were standing outside of the door. I'm mortified. For myself and for this person who has NO IDEA bout social cues. She then proceeded to apologize and say that she knew I was in the middle of things.

That just happened.

Eyyiott

Check out pictures of Ell from Christmas.

Also adorable, he walked into the room with me, looked at himself in the mirror and said, "Heyyo, Eyyott."

new years present and past

2010... and yes, I do look a little drunk.

2009. 3ish months preggo and decidedly un-intoxicated.

5 Months!

Who knew that in only 5 months I could both feel like he just arrived and not imagine my life without him all at the same time. He is just one of the happiest babies--ever. Even when he's tired. Ok, maybe especially when he's tired. He gets really tickleish when he's sleepy and thinks everything is funny. You know, like when mom has had too much vino.

Yes, he is wearing leg warmers. don't judge. I have lots and lots of Christmas pictures that, at some point, will make their arrival on here, but for now... lets just look at how cute my 5 month old is. He can grab anything and put it in his mouth. Immediately. All of a sudden he went from sleeping in 3 hour intervals to sleeping 7 hours at once? what? I'm hoping it isn't a fluke and that it's here to stay. I also woke up every few hours and went to check on him to make sure he was breathing. what? That's totally normal, right? This means we are REALLY CLOSE to taking back our bathroom (which is currently where he sleeps.)

He is also getting ready to start scooting. when he's going to sleep/fighting sleep (one of his number one skills) he pushes his little toosh up in the air and rolls over. if he weren't trying to not sleep, I'd laugh. Basically, he's the cutest baby ever.

Last year on new years I was not even 3 months pregnant and now I have a 5 month old. Both make it almost impossible to stay up until midnight. so, here's a little snapshot we took when he went to sleep after dinner... that we went to at 6 pm. on new year's eve.
