Gypsy

So I heard about the maternity leave today. Thank goodness! 12 weeks (2 paid--10 unpaid). I can use vacation time (which I barely have) and can't use sick time. Then, I can talk with my direct boss about "additional" leave (I'd like to go PT until Feb. 1--making Black baby 6 months.) Granted, I'd like to go PT forever, but the hubs is fiscally responsible doesn't think this is the best idea. He said it could happen, but we couldn't live the live to which we have become accustomed.

I'm like... what life? Currently we live the gypsy lifestyle. In that case, from what I heard, gypsies eat kids and then we don't really have to worry about childcare and I could just work PT and be employed as our house keeper. Granted, this lady doesn't look like she's eaten many kids. Maybe I'm mixing this up with the witch in Hansel and Gretel. Whatever. She should eat more donuts.

Ummm...I'm thinking you may be leaving the gypsy lifestyle behind in a little while anyway...or at least to the extent that you are gypsy-ing now. I'm a big fan of the part-time work. Such a big fan, in fact, that I went part-time on my part-time to no time. Except books, but she goes with me for most of that. Moral of the story? Sell books with me, and we'll eat lots of donuts. And Ben Black can sell his plasma or other bodily fluids to make ends meet.

(Seriously, I am convinced the fiscally-responsible husbands are both a blessing and a curse. I'd be in trouble without him, but c'mon...live a little! :) )

And p.s.: when did you get a million followers? I've got to step it up!

And p.p.s.: it's weird to me that you can't use sick time to RECOVER FROM BIRTH, 'cause that's what a lot of maternity leave is, especially if you end up with a c-section which is, oh yeah, MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY. Weirdo rules written by men. But at least you get 12 weeks off.
